MM Frieght Elevator Zoom Series (2015)
From the series De Profundis
Printed on Epson Somerset Velvet Paper
Limited Editions
MM Freight Elevator is a series of 16 consecutive frames from a quick cinema zoom-shot portrait of actor/performance artist Mark Miller in an old industrial freight elevator. These images are hand-processed B&W films subjected to approximately 20 different photochemical processes to etch color into the various parts of the frame then scanned. The crosshatching effect on the prints is from the fence-like grate of the door. Each image can be viewed singularly or as a series of sequential frames.
This series was created during his residency at the Institute for Electronic Art at Alfred University. The Artist-in-Residence program at the IEA is supported by New York State Council on the Arts and the Rockefeller Foundation.
